The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Fatima Visionary Predicted ‘Final Battle’ Would Be Over Marriage and Family.Cardinal Caffarra: “What Sr. Lucia wrote to me is being fulfilled today
The Fatima visionary told him: “A time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family.”
Defending Marriage and the Family
VATICAN CITY — Sr. Lucia’s prophetic words that “the decisive battle” between the Lord and Satan would be over marriage and the family “is being fulfilled today,” Cardinal Carlo Caffarra has told Aleteia.
The Italian cardinal was speaking on Friday afternoon, May 19, at the fourth annual ‘Rome Life Forum,’ a gathering which brings together over 100 life and family leaders from over 20 nations to discuss how to defend and strengthen marriage and family life around the world.
Cardinal Caffarra is the Archbishop emeritus of Bologna and the founding president of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family. He has also served as a Member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, Member of the Presidential Committee of the Pontifical Council for the Family, and Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
He was created a cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI in March 2006. Cardinal Caffarra was one of Pope Francis’ 45 handpicked delegates chosen to attend the Ordinary Synod on the Family in 2015.
In this exclusive interview, given prior to his talk, Cardinal Caffarra also describes how Satan is attempting to destroy the two pillars of creation, so as to fashion his own “anti-creation”; and why, in this battle, woman is “the human being who must be defended the most.”
Your Eminence, what can you tell us about the letter you received from Sr. Lucia while you were working to found the Pontifical John Paul II institute for Marriage and Family in Rome?
In 1981 Pope John Paul II founded the Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family. The first years (1983-1984) were very difficult. The Institute was not wanted.
Who didn’t want it?
It was not wanted within and outside of the Church, because of the vision it was proposing. And so I was very concerned. Without asking anyone, I thought: “I will write to Sr. Lucia.”
How did that come to mind?
Just like that. But as you know, from the beginning the patroness of the institute has been Our Lady of Fatima. It is contained in the Apostolic Constitution. There the pope places the institute under the patronage of the Blessed Virgin of Fatima. So much so — I hope it is still there — that when one enters the institute, at the end of the corridor there is a statue of Our Lady of Fatima, and the chapel of institute is dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima.
And so, I thought to write to her. So I wrote, but simply saying: “The pope wanted this Institute. We are going through a very difficult time. I ask you only to pray.” And I added: “I do not expect a reply.” Her prayers were enough for me.
As you know, in order to have any contact with Sr. Lucia, even by letter, one needed to go through her bishop. So I sent the letter to the bishop, and he passed it on to Sr. Lucia.
To my great surprise, after not more than two or three weeks, I received a reply. It was a hand-written letter and quite long. I have given sworn testimony of what the letter said. The letter ended, saying (in 1983 or 1984): “Father, a time will come when the decisive battle between the kingdom of Christ and Satan will be over marriage and the family. And those who will work for the good of the family will experience persecution and tribulation. But do not be afraid, because Our Lady has already crushed his head.”
This remained engraved on my heart, and amid all of the difficulties we have encountered — and there have been so, so many — these words have always given me a great strength.
When you initially read Sr. Lucia’s words, did you think she was speaking of that moment in history?
I began thinking a few years ago, after almost thirty years: “Sr. Lucia’s words are taking place.” This decisive battle will be the thesis of my talk today. Satan is constructing and anti-creation.
An anti-creation?
If we read the second chapter of Genesis, we see that the edifice of creation is founded on two pillars. First, man is not something; he is someone, and therefore he deserves absolute respect. The second pillar is the relationship between man and woman, which is sacred. Between the man and the woman. Because creation finds its completion when God creates the woman. So much so, that after he created woman, the Bible says God rested.
Today, what do we observe? Two terrible events. First, the legitimization of abortion. That is, abortion has become a subjective right of woman. Now, ‘subjective right’ is an ethical category and therefore we are here entering into the world of good and evil, and we say that abortion is a good; it is a right. The second thing we see is the attempt to equate homosexual relationships with marriage. You see that Satan is attempting to threaten and destroy the two pillars so that he can fashion another creation. As if he were provoking the Lord, saying to Him: ‘I will fashion another creation, and man and woman will say: we like better here.’
The Scriptures say the devil is the father of lies, who presents himself as an angel of light…
In my talk, I will explain the words of Jesus, when he says of Satan: “When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44). And so in my opinion — and I do not know if John Paul II had already seen this — in this sort of situation the human being who must be defended the most is the woman. In fact, early on in his pontificate he wrote Mulieris Dignitatem. There he sought to develop a theology of femininity, because he understood that this was a delicate point.
Is woman the battlefield then?
There is a detail in the Bible that has always struck me. After the original sin, God addresses the serpent and says: “I will place enmity between you and the woman.” That is, God puts a particular enmity between the woman and evil, as if woman had a kind of instinct for the good, because God has put this enmity between woman and evil. The text continues: ‘and between your seed and her seed,’ and here the theologians see the foretelling of the Son of Mary. Therefore, woman has a particular involvement that has consequences for culture, society, and the family.
We are commemorating the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady to the children of Fatima. What is the message today?
For me, the originality of Fatima is this: At Fatima, Our Lady prophesied. In other apparitions, she doesn’t prophecy; she exhorts. Like at Lourdes: do penance, pray, tell the priests to build a chapel in this spot. She exhorts and recalls the strong exhortations of Jesus to penance and prayer. But at Fatima she prophesies; that is, she enters into and interprets human events. She had never done this before.
Did Sr. Lucia also prophesy?
Yes, she fully entered into [Our Lady’s prophecy] and has left her Memoires. Some are very impressive. She sensed that this was the task Our Lady had given her, that is, to hand on and interpret this prophecy.
And were Sr. Lucia’s words to you about the “decisive battle” also a prophecy?
Yes, absolutely. What Sr. Lucia wrote to me is being fulfilled today.

Defending Marriage and the Family
Moms are turning ‘extra’ embryos into jewelry. It’s not just barbaric, it’s demonic.
Couples are turning extra IVF embryos into jewellery. Pro-life Christians say Australian company that turns frozen embryos into jewelry is 'demonic'
....
Babies are not ours to control. Human life is not ours to manipulate in that way. We have no right to create life, keep it in some suspended animation, and then decide to destroy it whenever it suits us. We are not God. Pride is urging us to make ourselves like gods, and modern medicine cheers us on.
Babies are not a commodity, and we have no right to manufacture them at will. No one — absolutely no one — has any right to a child. There should never be any such thing as an “extra” embryo
......
I could not swallow the horror I felt as I read this story. Thanks to a jewelry company called Baby Bee Hummingbirds, a couple in Australia has turned their seven “extra” embryos conceived through IVF into a necklace. Yes, you heard me. The mother is wearing her babies around her neck.
Most people do not understand why the Catholic Church refuses to approve the practice of in-vitro fertilization, or any form of artificial insemination, or any method of conception at all apart from sexual intercourse. The Church teaches that all such means of conception are morally wrong. The reasons are profound, thoughtful and humble. If you’d like to hear it from the horse’s mouth, read this, especially CCC 2375 – 2378.
But allow me to say it succinctly this way: What you manufacture, you own. It belongs to you, and you call the shots with authority. What you manufacture, you can control.
THAT is precisely why it is morally wrong to manufacture children. Many people will object to the word “manufacture” here, but it’s the only accurate term. Babies are ordered up and created in a lab, purchased and paid for by adults who have commissioned their creation. That’s manufacturing.
God has ordained marital intercourse as the method and means of procreation.
Babies are not ours to control. Human life is not ours to manipulate in that way. We have no right to create life, keep it in some suspended animation, and then decide to destroy it whenever it suits us. We are not God.
------
Jewelry made from breastmilk, umbilical cords, and now…IVF embryos?
When I first heard it, I thought it was satire — someone taking the not-new idea of preserving breastmilk in a ring (a memento of a sweet and often too-brief part of motherhood) and ramping it up to a ridiculous extreme.
It’s not satire, though. Apparently the Baby Bee Hummingbirds company of Australia, which popularized the breastmilk keepsakes, and will also put umbilical cord stumps, placental remains, or first curls into pendants and rings, has begun a line called “Embryo Ashes” — pendants containing one’s unused embryos, the “extra” products of In Vitro Fertilization:
After a six-year IVF journey to receive miracles Lachlan, 4, and 21-month-old twins Charlotte and William, Belinda and Shaun Stafford didn’t know what to do with their remaining embryos. Their babies.
And yet, I cannot read any of this and feel good — as some people clearly do. I keep thinking of Humanae Vitae and how that widely-disregarded encyclical by Pope Paul VI, whose limits were imposed “because of the reverence due to the whole human organism…” seems, every year, to prove itself more prophetic. And our human dignity is meant to hold, in death, as well as in life.

Atheist Abortionist Doctor Sees Unforgettable Vision on Apparition Hill – “Everything changed before my eyes” Her Life is Never the Same
“I had scarcely put my foot down on the hill when everything changed before my eyes. The rocks disappeared. The hill was suddenly covered with the bones and skulls of all the babies I had aborted over forty years. Look at these hands! (Here, she stretched out her hands before the group). Here are the hands which killed an entire city!” She was crying and in the room, the handkerchiefs came out one after another. Valentina, 29, comes from the Ukraine. Upon seeing her, you’d believe her to be a “normal,” young girl. However! Her story is far from ordinary! From an atheist background and marked by the hardcore communism of those regions, she grew up in material poverty and spiritual emptiness.

Throughout the past quarter of a century, Our Lady has literally appeared throughout the whole village of Medjugorje.
The story with the picture could almost be taken out of a fairy tale book. The Virgin Mary suddenly appears to Vicka and Jakov in his mother’s little cottage, takes hold of their hands and transports them right to the gate of Heaven, where a man with a long white beard stands at its entrance. They are given a glimpse of the Blessed Mother’s “homeland” before She takes them to Purgatory and then to hell, itself. After touring “eternity” they found themselves back in the humble home. But they would never be the same again. Though this house has long since collapsed, the reality of what took place in this apparition has a greater impact on pilgrims when they know they are standing on the actual site it took place.

Apparition Mountain overlooking the village of Medjugorje after sunset, just as Our Lady is leading the world to a new dawn. Think of it, well over 12,000 apparitions! Our Lady has been on the earth everyday since 1981! All attention is on Her. Of man and of angels, She is the holiest Creature that has ever existed. Marija once said even the angels in all the apparitions never, even for but a moment, will take their eyes off of Her. Holding on to time with Our Lady is one of the greatest moments of their state of being in accompanying Her to Earth. We are in a time of grace because of Her, the Woman of Revelation. It is She whose presence upon the Earth is leading it to holiness. Her blessing leaves Her fragrance upon the earth to bring about the springtime all of Heaven awaits. “...I desire to renew prayer with you and to call you to fast which I desire to offer to my Son Jesus for the coming of a new time—a time of spring…the Church is being renewed in the Spirit...” October 25, 2000 (From "Twenty Years of Apparitions" by a Friend of Medjugorje) https://pilgrimage.medjugorje.com/pilgrimage-to-medjugorje/85-apparition-hill.html

Miracles of the Mother of God
Countless miracles have been wrought through prayer before this icon, but we recount here one that happened as recently as the year 2004. It is a story that, if it had not been broadcast on the major TV channels in the Middle East, would certainly be hard to believe, even after reading about her intercessions throughout the Christian This miracle stunned with awesome surprise the entire Arabic/Moslem nation and all of the Middle East.

THE GLORIES OF MARY - ST. ALPHONSUS LIGUORI
EXAMPLE - Father Eusebius Nierembergh relates,! that
there lived in the city of Aragona a girl, named
Alexandra who, being noble and very beautiful,
was greatly loved by two young men. Through
jealousy, they one day fought and killed each
other. Their enraged relatives, in return, killed
the poor young girl, as the cause of so much&a
trouble, cut off her head, and threw her into a
well. A few days after, St. Dominic was pass

Lord, approached the well, and said;Alexandra, come forth; and immediately the head of the deceased came forth, placed itself on the
edge of the well, and prayed St. Dominic to hear
its confession. The saint heard its confession,
and also gave it communion,
in presence of a great concourse of persons who had assembled to
to witness the miracle. Then, St. Dominic or
dered her to speak and tell why she had receiv

she was beheaded, she was in a state of mortal
sin, but that the most holy Mary, on account of
the rosary, which she was in the habit of recit
ing, had preserved her in life. Two days the
head retained its life upon the edge
of the well,
in the presence of all, and then the soul went to
purgatory. But fifteen days after, the soul of
Alexandra appeared to St. Dominic, beautiful
and radiant as a star, and told him, that one of
the principal sources of relief to the souls in pur

and that, as soon as they
arrive in paradise, they
pray for those who apply
to them these power
ful prayers. Having said this, St. Dominic saw
that happy soul ascending
in triumph to the
kingdom of the blessed.
PRAYER.
Oh Queen of heaven and of earth, oh mother
of the Lord of the world, oh Mary,
creature most great, most exalted, most amiable,
it is true that many on the earth do not love thee and do not
know tnee; but there are innumerable angels and
saints iu heaven who love and praise thee con
tinually. On this earth, too, how many souls
burn with love of thee, and live enamored of thy
goodness 1 Ah, if I, too, might love tnee, my
most lovely Lady! Oh, that I might always be
engaged in serving thee, in praising thee, in
honoring thee, and in striving to awak
en love of thee in others. A God hath been
enamored of thee, who, by thy beauty,
if I may so speak, hast drawn him from the bo
som of the eternal Father, to come upon the earth
and become man and thy Son; and I, a miserable
worm, shall I not be enamored of thee? Yes,
my most sweet mother, I also will love thee,
love thee much, and do all in my power to make
thee loved by others. Accept, then, oh Mary,
the desire I have to love thee, and help me to
fulfil it:I know that thy
lovers are regarded
with much favor by thy God. Next to his own
glory, he desires nothing more than thy glory,
in seeing thee honored and loved by all. From
thee, oh Lady, I await all my blessings. Thou
must obtain the pardon of all my sins, thou must
obtain for me perseverance, succor in death, de
liverance from purgatory,
in a word, thou must
conduct me to paradise. All this thy
lovers
hope from thee, and they are not deceived. This
I also hope, who love thee with all my heart, and
above all things next to God
--
EXAMPLE.
A young man in Perugia once promised the
devil that if he would help him to commit a sin
ful act which he desired to do, he would give
him his soul; and he gave him a writing to that
effect, signed with his blood. The evil deed was
committed, and the devil demanded the perfor
mance of the promise. He led the young man to
a well, and threatened to take him body and soul
to hell if he would not cast himself into it. The
wretched youth, thinking that it would be impos
sible for him to escape from his enemy, climbed the
well-side in order to cast himself into it, but terri
fied at the thought of death, he said to the devil
that he had not the courage to throw himself in,
and that, if he wished to see him dead, he himself
should thrust him in. The young man wore
about his neck the scapular
of the sorrowing
Mary; and the devil said to him: Take off that
Bcapular, and I will thrust you in." But the youth,
seeing the protection which the divine mother
still gave him through that scapular, refused to
take it off, and after a great deal of altercation,
the devil departed in confusion. The sinner re
pented, and grateful
to his sorrowful mother,
went to thank her, and presented a picture of
this case, as an offering,
at her altar in the new
church of Santa Maria, in Perugia.
PRAYER.
Ah, mother, the most afflicted of all mothers,
thy Son, then, is dead; thy Son so amiable, and
who loved thee so much! Weep, for thou hast
reason to weep. Who can ever console thee?
Nothing can console thee but the thought that Je
sus, by his death, hath conquered hell, hath open
ed paradise which was closed to men, and hath
gained so many souls. From that throne of the
cross he was to reign over so many hearts, which,
conquered by his love, would serve him with.

Satan hates the Blessed Virgin Mary. In fact, he has been doing everything in his power to discourage devotion to her and instill hatred for her for two millennia. Have you ever noticed that it is Marian dogmas and devotions that stir the strongest reactions in those who reject the Church? Even some good Catholics are embarrassed by devotion to our Lady, and they feel we should not be too extreme in our veneration of her.
Perhaps you, too, have wondered why the Church holds the Immaculate Virgin in such high regard. Perhaps you have wonder why God has chosen to use her in the work of redemption. Today, I’d like to take a look at why the devil hates the Blessed Mother so much, and why we should be her devoted knights. https://www.catholicgentleman.net/2015/01/devil-hates-blessed-virgin-much-love/
A History of the Occult in Rock & Roll - Medium - http://devil-music-the-occult-beatles.webnode.sk/
A woman once sought out Saint John Vianney because she was worried her husband who had committed suicide was in hell. Saint John declared to the woman, "He is saved! He is in purgatory, but he is saved." Saint John Vianney is a famous church mystic. Awesome, one more reason to love St. Juan Maria Vianey.
There is an oft related story from the life of the Cure of Ars who found in his confessional a woman in tears who explained that her husband had just committed suicide by jumping off a bridge but the good Saint John Vianney, who could read hearts and was given knowledge about such things by God, said: “Between the bridge and the river he repented and was forgiven“.
Saint John declared to the woman, "He is saved! He is in purgatory, but he is saved." Saint John Vianney is a famous church mystic.
Now certainly stories like this are accounts of exceptional graces, but it does mean that we can pray for the repose of the soul of those who have committed suicide. And as Saint Padre Pio tought we ought to pray that they had the grace of perfect contrition before they died because God is outside of time and we can still pray for them.
We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of. Suicide contradicts the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life. It is gravely contrary to the just love of self. It likewise offends love of neighbor because it unjustly breaks the ties of solidarity with family, nation, and other human societies to which we continue to have obligations. Suicide is contrary to love for the living God.
If suicide is committed with the intention of setting an example, especially to the young, it also takes on the gravity of scandal. Voluntary co-operation in suicide is contrary to the moral law.
Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide. We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives. (CCC 2280-83)
Yes, suicide is a sin, but despite its gravity, it may not be completely freely chosen, and may therefore be non-mortal.
There is no definite yes/no to this question. Mental illness lessens the culpability of the sin, so it may not be a mortal sin. Suicide does not automatically condemn a person to hell. Gods mercy is infinite and we must hope and pray (but not presume) that he has mercy on those who have committed suicide.
The best saint to pray to and to turn someone to for help if they are suffering from temptations of suicide is the great Saint Therese of the Child Jesus and of the Holy Face. It is not well known that she developed a deep understanding and love for those who suffer from these temptations during her final months because of the indescribable suffering she endured. Just a month before her death she said:
Watch carefully, Mother, when you will have persons a prey to violent pains; don’t leave near them any medicines that are poisonous. I assure you, it needs only a second when one suffers intensely to lose one’s reason. Then one could easily poison oneself. (August 30, Green Notebook).
During the process of her beatification one of her novices, Sr. Marie of the Trinity, said the following:
Three days before she died, I saw her in such pain that I was heartbroken. When I drew near to her bed, she tried to smile, and, in a strangled sort of voice, she said: If I didn’t have faith, I could never bear such suffering. I am surprised that there aren’t more suicides among atheists. (Proces de beatification et canonisation. Vol. 1 Proces informative ordinaire [Rome: Teresianum, 1973)] 472. English tr. in C. O’Mahoney, St. Therese of Liseux by Those who Knew Her: Testimonies from the Process of her Beatification [Dublin: Veritas, 1975] 254.)
The following prayer found below is taken from the official approved prayers used at the American National Shrine of the Little Flower. It is approved for public or private use. It can be found in The Little Flower Prayerbook.

The cross reminds us that there is no true love without suffering. Only love can save this world. Our Lady: There is oneAccording to an interview with Mirjana in 1983, “She (Our Lady) always recommended faith , prayer, and fasting.” Our Lady has also spoken of the necessity of prayer to sustain a living faith, saying, “Faith cannot be alive without prayer.” God and one faith.

The Miracles and the Power of the Rosary in Our Fight Against Evil
What do nuclear warfare, satanic priests, and serial killers have in common?
What about corrupt and evil governments usurping the rights of its people, and horrific, unjust wars wrought upon Christians by radical Muslim forces?
Each of these is a very real threat in our lives today; and yet, each of these evils has seen its destructive power rendered useless in the face of those praying the Rosary!
In our fight against evil, it is easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged when the darkness seems to be getting only deeper and its powers more forceful… That is why it’s so important to recall the mighty power of our God and prayer; and realize again, or for the first time, the immense power we have within our grasp!
In this article I will share a very small sampling of the incredible miracles of the Rosary. These miracles demonstrate the power of the Rosary in the instances mentioned above:
Protection in the Midst of Nuclear Warfare:
When the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945, it brought about utter destruction, except for one home, which was within a kilometer of ground zero. The eight Jesuit priests who lived there suffered no ill effects from the radiation that killed so many, and were thus, examined and interviewed multiple times. Fr. Schiffer, a survivor, remarked over 200 times, “we believe that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the rosary daily in that home.”
Conversion of a Satanic Priest:
Bartolo Longo, born in Naples in 1841, drifted so far away from God and his religious upbringing that he eventually became a satanic priest. When satanic forces were tormenting him, his family, who had never stopped praying for him, convinced him to make a good confession. He did and was helped by a priest who encouraged him to become devoted to the rosary. In 1870, he became a third order Dominican and chose to live a life of penance in reparation for all the sins he committed as a satanic priest. One day, nearing succumbing to despair for all the sins he had committed, he was inspired to remember Mary’s promise to help all those who encouraged others to pray the rosary. So began a mission to promote the rosary and to restore the ruined chapel of Pompeii. Many conversions and miraculous cures took place as people became devoted to the rosary and pledged to build a new shrine in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary. In 1980, Pope John Paul II beatified Bartolo Longo calling him “the man of the Madonna” and the “Apostle of the Rosary.”
Protection from Serial Killers:
Ted Bundy was one of the worst serial killers in history. On the night of January 15, 1978, at 3:00 am, Bundy murdered two girls in the Chi Omega sorority house at Florida State University – he entered a third room, but fled when he saw a girl clutching a rosary in her hands. Later the girl explained that she had promised her grandmother to pray the rosary every night when she went to bed, even if she fell asleep while praying. Years later, when Bundy was awaiting his execution, he asked for a priest. The priest, Monsignor William Kerr, asked him what happened that night. Bundy said he intended to murder the girl, but “some mysterious power prevented him.”
The Fall of Corrupt, Evil Governments:
In the Philippines, the corrupt Marcos regime was defeated entirely through peaceful means in 1986. While their leaders were living in luxury, the Philippine people were starving and sought to elect a new leader, Benigno Aquino. After the Marcos government assassinated him, one million people signed a petition for his widow, Corazon Aquino, to run in his place. A false, corrupt and violent election declared Marcos the winner as he took control of the media and sent out thousands of tanks to quell the unrest. Cardinal Sin, of the Archdiocese of Manila, called on all people to peacefully protest the injustice. Thousands went among the soldiers and the tanks praying the rosary and singing hymns, while holy Mass and vigils took place in churches. The prayerful protests lasted not quite a week when all the armed soldiers left their tanks and peacefully joined the protesters.
In 1962-64, the president of Brazil, Joao Goulart, began to embrace Communism and began installing Communists into high positions of government. In response, Cardinal de Barros Camara encouraged people to follow Our Lady of Fatima’s messages and to pray the Rosary to keep their country free from communism. . President Goulart reacted by mocking the rosary, saying that governmental control, not the rosary, would save the country.
A woman named Amelia Bastos began to recruit many people to pray the rosary, forming a group called Campaign of Women for Democracy (CAMDE). In Belo Horizonte, 20,000 rosary-praying women broke up a pro-Communist rally. Again, all the while praying, "Mother of God, preserve us from the fate and suffering of the martyred women of Cuba, Poland, Hungary, and other enslaved nations," 600,000 women marched and prayed the rosary for peace in Sao Paulo. They called their protest the "March of the Family with God Toward Freedom," which was described by witnesses as, "One of the most moving demonstrations in Brazilian History." Many more rosary rallies were held throughout Brazil despite threats against the women. Without a shot being fired, on April 1, 1964, President Goulart fled the country along with much of his government.
Inexplicably to military strategists and historians, atheistic Russian Communists left Austria, a strategic stronghold, without a shot being fired on May 13, 1955 (the anniversary of the first apparition of Fatima). This followed a rosary crusade of 70,000 Austrians praying the rosary daily for peace and freedom from Communist rule.
Miraculous Victories in the Wars Wrought Against Christians by Radical Muslim Forces
After centuries of attacks by Muslim invaders, the Muslim forces gathered for one tremendous naval battle, determined to conquer Christian Europe. The Catholic ships and sailors were vastly outnumbered, and Christian Europe seemed at the point of extinction and all hope seemed lost, when St. Pope Pius V called upon all of Europe to pray the rosary. Miraculously, during the Battle of Lepanto, on October 7, 1571, the Muslim Turks were so devastatingly defeated that they no longer posed a threat. The Church celebrates this tremendous victory by honoring Our Lady of the Rosary on October 7th every year.
There are countless other miracles that could be enumerated if we had the space and time, but let these few challenge us to pray with renewed confidence and vigor in our families. As I wrote in a past article, “We have the power of God with us and within us and our prayers will not go unheard. We have to hold fast to the knowledge that God is truly present in the Eucharist and He is infinitely more powerful than Satan and all the forces of evil in the world. He sometimes allows terrible things to happen, just as He allowed His only Son to die on a cross to save us, but He allows it only if it will bring about infinitely more good to us than if it had never happened. Let us pray for the conversion of hearts of those who are instigating this black mass, for “God does not desire the death of the sinner, but rather that he be converted and live!” (cf. Ez 18: 23).
Tens of thousands united in prayer and fasting against [the evil that is seeking to destroy us] is itself a miracle of faith and a beautiful manifestation of the power and glory of God. We have untold strength in our unity! So, as we remain united and continue in prayer and fasting, let us call to mind these miracles of the past (and hundreds of others) and rejoice that God’s power will be made manifest and many hearts will be converted. Let us not get discouraged when we are faced with such evil forces, “For the LORD, your God, is the God of gods, the Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome” (Deut 10:17), who gives us strong and mighty weapons at our disposal!
Let us also recall the faith and steadfastness of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to King Nebuchadnezzar when confronted with certain death in the fiery furnace, and echo their words: “There is no need for us to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If our God, whom we serve, can save us from the white-hot furnace and from your hands, O king, may he save us! But even if he will not, you should know, O king, that we will not serve your god or worship the golden statue which you set up” (Dn 3: 16-18).”
If these miracles aren't enough to inspire us to begin fervently and devoted praying the Rosary, here are more incentives:
Consider these strong words by Pope St. John Paul II, who in 1980, held up his Rosary in an interview and said:
"Here is the remedy against evil. Pray, pray and ask for nothing else. Put everything in the hands of the Mother of God. We must be prepared to undergo great trials in the not too distant future. Trials that will require us to be ready to give up even our lives and a total gift of self to Christ and for Christ. Through your prayers and mine, it is possible to alleviate this tribulation, but it is no longer possible to avert it. It is only in this way the Church can be renewed. How many times, indeed, has the renewal of the Church been effected in blood. This time it will not be otherwise. We must be attentive to the prayer of the ROSARY."
Additionally, Sister Lucia, one of the visionaries of Fatima once said:
“The Most Holy Virgin in these last times in which we live has given a new efficacy to the recitation of the Rosary to such an extent that there is no problem, no matter how difficult, whether temporal or above all spiritual, in the personal life of each one of us, or of our families, that cannot be solved by the Rosary.”
And Pope St. Pius X said:
“In our time more than ever before, the chief strength of the wicked, lies in the cowardice and weakness of good men. All the strength of Satan’s reign is due to the easy-going weakness of Catholics.”
Lastly, let us remember the beautiful promises Mary made for us who pray the Rosary:
The Fifteen Promises of the Virgin Mary to those who recite the Rosary
1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.
2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.
3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.
4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of people from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.
6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its Sacred Mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.
7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plentitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the Saints in Paradise.
9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.
10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.
11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.
12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.
14. All who recite the Rosary are my children, and brothers and sisters of my only Son, Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion of my Rosary is a great sign of predestination.
May we not be weak and cowardly as Pope St. Pius X warned, but may millions stand up against the evil Satan is perpetrating in our world.
Joining together in the battle by making the decision to pray the Rosary daily as Our Mother requested at Fatima repeatedly:
On June 13 1917, she said:
"I wish …that you pray the Rosary every day."
And again on July 13, 1917:
"Pray the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, in order to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war for she alone can help."
And again on Oct 13, 1917
"I am the Lady of the Rosary,
I have come to warn the faithful to amend their lives and ask for pardon for their sins. They must not offend Our Lord any more, for He is already too grievously offended by the sins of men.
People must say the Rosary. Let them continue saying it everyday."
What more will it take for all Catholics to do as Our Blessed Mother requests?
What more needs to happen in our world to incite us to pray?
May we realize and respond to the inestimable gift of Mary coming down from heaven to speak to us and to save us (!) by heeding her words and her warnings.

Last few days of my Novena and Mama Mary has turned the situation around! I’ll admit, there was a point where I seriously wondered if I should stop because what I might be praying for isn’t God’s will. But I continued because I figured there isn’t any harm in praying. Thank you so much God, Mama Mary and Saint Jude!

I have been a devotee of Mother Mary and has learned to pray the rosary..I have countless of blessings...I have read a lot of books about her such as "The secrets of Mary" , "The saints who saw Mary.." and people's testimony around the world..it has truly inspired me. I visited apparition sites In wisconsin and georgia ..one thing I would like to share that is no doubt an immediate answer directly from her is way back May 2011 when i was a nursing course..i was deficient and I need an 86 minimum score for the finals to get a total passing grade. That night the image of our Lady of fatima which is being transfered from house to house to a group of family friends which we then Prayed a rosary together has been in our house for a couple of days..The night before the finals i was still cramming..I paused and wrote down the score i need to get in the finals to place my total average to a passing grade..I wrote it on top of a prayer pamplet ..the number 86..i knelt down to the fatima image and prayed the rosary with my petition..a minimum score I need to pass...in the middle of my prayer..suddenly..i felt a sudden swossh of air in my face not strong but enough to feel it..our house is closed, windows are closed and there's no way an air could pop out somwhere within the level of my face...I felt something...the following day was the finals..we took it in a computer where you can automatically see the result of exam after you hit the submission button. I was the last one..I hit the submit button..my score was 86..I was amazed..and my teacher told me there would be no adjustment for the score..which he usually did in previuos exams...If i have brought the pamplet to class i should have shown it to my teacher ...no doubt in my mind and in my heart its the virgin Mary!! Its her powerful intercession..she will intercede just enough of what we need!

I have been praying the 54 Day Novena combined and I’m now on the Thanksgiving half. I breezed through the petition half, saying 3 rosaries a day and offering up a sacrifice and praying the Undoer of Knots Novena as well. Right now, I am very doubtful whether or not Mother Mary will grant me my petition because things don’t seem to be improving despite the constant prayers for reconciliation. I walked to a nearby church and prayed in front of Our Lady’s images. There is so much doubt in me and I asked her for a sign. I asked her if she heard my prayers and to send me red roses if things will get better. To my surprise, I stumbled on a photo of a bookmark of Our Lady and it said, “Happy are those who pray before my image...” :’) i also picked up a devotional book and read what it said for today. I forgot thr words but a few phrases struck me, “it would grow and flourish” and “have faith and trust” — those are the exact words I used when I pray my intention to our Lady! To add to these, I also saw teo photos of red roses :) thank you Mama, St. Jude and God! I am hoping to see my miracle soon. You are the only Ones who can change my seemingly impossible situation
Corey January, 19 2018 -
I am on my second leg of the 54 Day Novena and while I get glimpses of the miracle I’ve been asking for, it has not materialized. I spent the entire day yesterday feeling down and discouraged whether or not what I was praying for was God’s will. I cried out to Our Lady and asked her to send me a sign of red roses. I went to church that day, but no red roses were seen. I went to my facebook hoping that I would see roses.... and I did! Even when I stopped looking for it, I saw a bouquet of red and white roses, a bouquet of plain red ones. Today, I visited the church again and I saw roses laid out under the image of the Child Jesus. It just has to be a signal grace! I know that if God doesn’t want you to see something, even if you search the world, you would never see it. And there it was.
Later that evening, I really felt down. I asked God to send me a bit of inspiration. A few minutes later, a friend of mine messaged me and said, “don’t worry. It will be fixed”.
Earlier today, after my rosary, I saw a photo that said, “what’s for you is for you and God is prapering it to come your way.” I now believe I just have to be patient.
Thank you Mama Mary, Papa God, St. Jude and St. Therese for the never ending love and reassurance.

started this Novena 9days ago and I must say am already happy to have found it. I was a sad, tearful girl but am now happy. A man this morning asked me why am so happy these days. This rosary has really given me joy and peace. I had a personal problem and I had lost hope; but when I started this novena, Things are already better,And yesterday when I was cleaning my boss' table, a sticker of mother Mary fell from her table glass with words "Jesus loves you"; yesterday still while I was searching for something on chrome, While I was typing, a statement filled the search bar, "God placed you where you are, remember and trust he is working everything out for you". I believe these are signs from mother Mary. I haven't fully received my petition but I trust and believe I will receive it soon no matter the time or day .Please pray unceasingly. Heaven always has a warm welcome for us.
Manu January, 16 2018 -
Two months ago I prayed for help with an exam and with the grace of God and the help of heaven I passed!
After my exam, I unexpectedly found a card with the twelve promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus devotion. I don't believe that this was a coincidence.
Uju January, 13 2018 - United Kingdom
Dear brothers and sisters. Blessed be God and blessed be the great mother of God Mary most holy. I thank God for answered prayers through our mother Mary's intercession. I completed my 54 days rosary novena with the petition for a good catholic school for all our 3 children which was very difficult to get in the new town we relocated to in April 2017. Before the start of the summer break we still hadn't got admission for the new school term in September. We would either get a school offering admission for one child and not the other 2, or each child in a different school. We had no choice but to continue the daily 2hrs drive from our new home to their old school. However I faithfully persevered in my daily rosary asking for our mother to intercede. Then in October 2017 my husband out of desperation drove personally to almost all the schools in town seeking admission. Miraculously the head teacher of one of the schools informed him about a catholic school though not in our catchment area that might be able to help. My husband dropped off the admission forms and that same afternoon I received a call from the head teacher that they can offer admission for all 3 children!!
Within a month of our children starting school there, an outstanding school which is just a 5 mins walk from our home sent admission for all three children!! Dear brothers and sisters this is a much sought after school with a waiting list of at least 58 pupils for each class!! May God be praised for his mercy and grace. A lesson I have learned from this is to be patient in adversity that God will answer our prayers in accordance to his will at the right time.
No matter the situation, the rosary is a very powerful weapon to overcome all the difficulties and challenges we face in this life. May we continue to persevere in our daily recitation of this powerful prayer and teach others to do so as well. God bless.

The Miracles and the Power of the Rosary in Our Fight Against Evil
In 1980, Pope John Paul II beatified Bartolo Longo calling him “the man of the Madonna” and the “Apostle of the Rosary.”http://catholicmom.com/2015/10/08/the-miracles-and-the-power-of-the-rosary-in-our-fight-against-evil/
7 Astounding Holy Rosary Miracles
The extraordinary power of the Rosary has resulted in many miracles. In “Rosarium Virginis Mariae,” Saint John Paul II eloquently shared his thoughts and feelings about the beautiful holy devotion known as the Rosary. “The Rosary, though clearly Marian in character, is at heart a Christocentric prayer,” wrote the saint – who was then Pope John Paul II. He added “With the Rosary, the Christian people sits at the school of Mary and is led to contemplate the beauty on the face of Christ and to experience the depths of his love. Through the Rosary the faithful receive abundant grace, as though from the very hands of the Mother of the Redeemer.“

The Rosary and Saint Dominic Defeat Heresy
The Rosary—as spiritual weapon against evil—has a very long and precious history. In twelfth and thirteenth century France, a group of heretics known as the Albigensians was destroying the minds of the Catholic laity with its erroneous ideas. The Albigensians’ teachings encouraged suicide, many times by self-induced starvation, because they believed that the body was an intrinsic evil and that the soul must be liberated from matter at all costs. However, as history often shows, Providence raises up great Saints in times of dire crises. This time it was no different. Saint Dominic, born of noble lineage, received the Rosary from Our Lady in the year 1214. Our Lady gave Saint Dominic the Rosary as a weapon to combat the awful Albigensian heresy.

A True Story: The “Hail Mary” of a Protestant is Powerful
The “Hail Mary” of a Protestant is powerful!—( A True Story)
A little six-year-old Protestant boy had often heard his Catholic companion reciting the prayer ‘Hail Mary.’ He liked it so much that he copied it, memorized it and would recite it every day. ‘Look, Mummy, what a beautiful prayer,’ he said to his mother one day. ‘Never again say it,’ answered the mother.’ it is a superstitious prayer of Catholics who adore idols and think Mary a goddess. After all, she is a woman like any other. Come on, take this Bible and read it. It contains everything that we are bound to do and have to do.’
From that day on the little boy discontinued his daily ‘Hail Mary’ and gave himself more time to reading the Bible instead. One day, while reading the Gospel, he came across the passage about the Annunciation of the Angel to Our Lady. Full of joy, the little boy ran to his mother and said: ‘Mummy, I have found the ‘Hail Mary’ in the Bible which says: ‘Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women. ‘ Why do you call it a superstitious prayer?’
On another occasion he found that beautiful Salutation of St. Elizabeth to The Virgin Mary and the wonderful canticle. MAGNIFICAT in which Mary foretold that ‘the generations would call her blessed.’ He said no more about it to his mother but started to recite the ‘Hail Mary’ every day as before. He felt pleasure in addressing those charming words to the Mother of Jesus, our Savior.
When he was fourteen, he one day heard a discussion on Our Lady among the members of his family. Every one said that Mary was a common woman like any other woman. The boy, after listening to their erroneous reasoning, could not bear it any longer, and full of indignation, he interrupted them, saying: ‘Mary is not like any other children of Adam, stained with sin. No! The Angel called her FULL OF GRACE AND BLESSED AMONGST WOMEN. Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ and consequently Mother of God. There is no higher dignity to which a creature can be raised.
The Gospel says that the generations will proclaim her blessed and you are trying to despise her and look down on her. Your spirit is not the Spirit Of the Gospel or of the Bible which you proclaim to be the foundation of the Christian religion.’ So deep was the impression which the boy’s talk had made that his mother many times cried out sorrowfully: ‘Oh my God! I fear that this son of mine will one day join the Catholic religion, the religion of Popes!’ And indeed, not very long afterwards, having made a serious study of both Protestantism and Catholicism, the boy found the latter to be the only true religion and embraced it and became one of its most ardent apostles.
Some time after his conversion, he met his married sister who rebuked his and said indignantly: ‘You little know how much I love my children. Should any one of them desire to become a Catholic, I would sooner pierce his heart with a dagger than allow him to embrace the religion of the Popes!’ Her anger and temper were as furious as those of St. Paul before his conversion. However, she would change her ways, just as St. Paul did on his way to Damascus.
It so happened that one of her sons fell dangerously ill and the doctors gave up hope of recovery. Her brother then approached, her and spoke to her affectionately, saying: ‘My dear sister, you naturally wish to have your child cured. Very well, then, do what I ask you to do. Follow me, let us pray one ‘Hail Mary’ and promise God that, if your son recovers his health, you would seriously study the Catholic doctrine, and should you come to the conclusion that Catholicism is the only true religion, you would embrace it no matter what the sacrifices may be.’
His sister was somewhat reluctant at the beginning but as she wished for her son’s recovery. She accepted her brother’s proposal and recited the ‘Hail Mary’ together with him. The next day her son was completely cured! The mother fulfilled her promise and she studied the Catholic doctrine. After long preparation she received Baptism together with her family, thanking her brother for being an apostle to her.
*The story was related during a sermon given by the Rev. Father Tuckwell. ‘Brethren, he went on and said, ‘The boy who became a Catholic and converted his sister to Catholicism dedicated his whole life to the service of God. He is the priest who is speaking to you now!
What I am I owe to Our Lady. You, too, my dear brethren, be entirely dedicated also to Our Lady and never let a day pass without saying the beautiful prayer, ‘Hail Mary’, and your Rosary. Ask her to enlighten the minds of Protestants who are separated from the true Church of Christ founded on the Rock (Peter) and ‘against whom the gates of hell shall never prevail.’ http://www.catholicconvert.com/blog/2016/02/04/a-true-story-the-hail-mary-is-a-powerful-prayer/
We believe that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the Rosary in that home. (Fr. Schiffer)
How to survive a nuclear blast? Pray the Rosary.
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hubert_Schiffer
Father Hubert Schiffer, born in Germany in 1915, was one of eight Jesuits who survived the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. He was only eight blocks away from ground zero when the explosion occurred. Some Catholics believe the survival of the priests to have been a miracle. Skeptics counter that there were non-Catholic survivors even closer to the epicenter of the blast, such as Eizo Nomura (100 m away) and Akiko Takakura (150 m away), and numerous survivors within a 1 km radius.
According to the account of Jesuit priest Fr. John Seimes, who had been on the outskirts of the city:
They were in their rooms at the Parish House—it was a quarter after eight, exactly the time when we had heard the explosion in Nagatsuke—when came the intense light and immediately thereafter the sound of breaking windows, walls and furniture. They were showered with glass splinters and fragments of wreckage. Father Schiffer was buried beneath a portion of a wall and suffered a severe head injury. The Father Superior received most of the splinters in his back and lower extremity from which he bled copiously. Everything was thrown about in the rooms themselves, but the wooden framework of the house remained intact. Another account adds that he had just finished saying Mass, and had gone to eat breakfast when the bomb hit:
Suddenly, a terrific explosion filled the air with one bursting thunderstroke. An invisible force lifted me from the chair, hurled me through the air, shook me, battered me, whirled me round and round like a leaf in a gust of autumn wind. He looked around, and there were no buildings left except for the church house.
It is frequently claimed that everyone else within a radius of roughly 1.5 kilometres was killed instantly, and many of those outside of this range died of radiation within days. In contrast, the only physical harm to Fr. Shiffer was that he could feel a few pieces of glass in the back of his neck. It's also said that after the surrender of Japan, the American army doctors explained to him that his body would begin to deteriorate because of the radiation; yet to the doctors' amazement, Fr. Schiffer's body appeared to contain no elevated radiation or ill-effects from the bomb. In fact, he lived for another 33 years in good health, and was present at the Eucharistic Congress held in Philadelphia in 1976. At that time, all eight members of the Jesuit community from Hiroshima were still alive.
The surprising survival of the Jesuits in Hiroshima is similar to that reported in Nagasaki, where a Fransican Friary built by St. Maximillian Kolbe also went unaffected. Since the bombs were dropped, the priests have been examined over 200 times by scientists. Each time the priests repeated the same explanation for their survival:

How to stop Communism? Pray the Rosary.
They have infiltrated our nation, our government, our armed forces and even our churches ...(Dona Amelia Bastos)
In the November, 1964, issue of the Reader’s Digest, there was a story titled: “The Country that saved It-self.’’ That country was Brazil. The stage was all set in 1961 to take over Brazil, just like Cuba. But guess who thwarted this Communist takover? The women of Brazil with their rosaries! “Without the woman,” said one of the leaders of the counterrevolution, “we could never have halted Brazil’s plunge toward communism.”
ne night in mid-1962, Dona Amelia Bastos listened to her husband and a band of anti-Reds discuss the looming threat of Communism. “I suddenly decided,” she said, “that politics had become to important to be left entirely to the men... Moreover, who has more at stake in what’s happening to our country than we women?” She formed CAMDE (Campaign of Women for Democracy]. In Belo Horizonte 20,000 women reciting the rosary aloud broke up the leftist meeting there. In Sao Paulo, 600,000 women praying the rosary in one of the most moving demonstrations in Brazilian history, sounded the death knell of the Communist revolution. These women with rosaries in their hands or around their necks, issued a 1300 word proclamation:
This nation which God has given us, immense and marvelous as it is, is in extreme danger. We have allowed men of limitless ambition, without Christian faith or scruples, to bring our people misery, destroying our economy, disturbing our social peace, to create hate and despair. They have infiltrated our nation, our government, our armed forces and even our churches ...
Mother of God, preserve us from the fate and suffering of the martyred women of Cuba, Poland, Hungary and all other enslaved
nations!
AUSTRIA IS FREE!
The Power of Prayer
In 1946, a Franciscan priest named Petrus Pavlicek made a pilgrimmage to Mariazell, Austria's man Marian shrine. There, he prayed that Austria might be freed from the Communists. As he knelt in prayer, he heard a voice in his mind. The heavenly voice told him that if he prayed the rosary Austria would have peace. In 1947, Fr. Pavlicek founded the Crusade of Reparation of the Holy Rosary. Through the Crusade, Austrians joined in a round-the-clock Rosary. They prayed for the conversion of sinners, world peace, and a free Austria. Thousands of people joined the crusade. Every month the number of crusaders grew. By 1955, a half-million Austrians, more than 7 percent of the country, had pledged to pray the daily Rosary.
Austria is Free after Ten Years of "Liberation"
On March 24, 1955, the Soviets invited the Austrian Prime Minister, Julius Raab, to a meeting in Moscow. Believing that Austria's future would be sealed at the meeting, Raab spoke with Fr. Pavlicek. "Please pray, and ask your people to pray harder than ever."
Though it had never done so, and never would do so again, in April, the Soviet Union announced that it would withdraw its troops from Austria. On May 15, 1955, Austria signed a peace treaty with the Allies. Austria was once again a self-governing nation. By the end of October, the last Soviet soldier left Austria. Ten years after it had been "liberated," Austria was free.
In Vienna, a huge crowd marched procession. They carried rosaries and a statue of Our Lady of Fatima who had delivered Austria from the Communists. From the balcony of the capital building, Prime Minister Raab offered a prayer of thanksgiving. "Today, we, whose hearts are full of faith, cry out to Heaven in joyful prayer: We are free, O Mary, we thank thee!" Every year since then, thousands of Austrians gather in Vienna to thank Our Lady for the gift of freedom granted through her intercession.~Extracted from Our Catholic Legacy World History for Young Catholics 2012

MIRACULOUS STORIES OF THE ROSARY by Saint Louis de Montfort Selections from The Secret of the Rosary Montfort Publications, New York, 1954 Edited by Br Sean, a choir monk, 2009 7. Two little girls, who were sisters, were saying the Rosary very devoutly in front of their house. A beautiful lady suddenly appeared, walked towards the younger girl, who was only about six or seven, took her by the hand, and led her away. Her elder sister was very startled and looked for the little girl everywhere. At last, still not having found her, she went home weeping and told her parents that her sister had been kidnapped. For three whole days the poor father and mother sought the child without success. At the end of the third day they found her at the front door looking extremely happy and pleased. Naturally they asked her where on earth she had been, and she told them that the lady to whom she had been saying the Rosary had taken her to a lovely place where she had given her delicious things to eat. She said that the lady had also given her a baby boy to hold, that he was very beautiful, and that she had kissed him again and again. The father and mother, who had been converted to the Catholic faith only a short time before, sent at once for the Jesuit Father who had instructed them for their reception into the Church and who had also taught them devotion to the Rosary. They told him everything that had happened, and it was this priest himself who told me this story. It all took place in Paraguay. 11. Saint Dominic, seeing that the gravity of people's sins was hindering the conversion of the Albigensians, withdrew into a forest near Toulouse, where he prayed continuously for three days and three nights. During this time he did nothing but weep and do harsh penances in order to appease the anger of God. He used his discipline so much that his body was lacerated, and finally he fell into a coma. At this point our Lady appeared to him, accompanied by three angels, and she said, "Dear Dominic, do you know which weapon the Blessed Trinity wants to use to reform the world?" "Oh, my Lady," answered Saint Dominic, "you know far better than I do, because next to your Son Jesus Christ you have always been the chief instrument of our salvation." Then our Lady replied, "I want you to know that, in this kind of warfare, the principal weapon has always been the Angelic Psalter, which is the foundation-stone of the New Testament. Therefore, if you want to reach these hardened souls and win them over to God, preach my Psalter." So he arose, comforted, and burning with zeal for the conversion of the people in that district, he made straight for the cathedral. At once unseen angels rang the bells to gather the people together, and Saint Dominic began to preach. At the very beginning of his sermon, an appalling storm broke out, the earth shook, the sun was darkened, and there was so much thunder and lightning that all were very much afraid. Even greater was their fear when, looking at a picture of our Lady exposed in a prominent place, they saw her raise her arms to heaven three times to call down God's vengeance upon them if they failed to be converted, to amend their lives, and seek the protection of the holy Mother of God. God wished, by means of these supernatural phenomena, to spread the new devotion of the holy Rosary and to make it more widely known. At last, at the prayer of Saint Dominic, the storm came to an end, and he went on preaching. So fervently and compellingly did he explain the importance and value of the Rosary that almost all the people of Toulouse embraced it and renounced their false beliefs. In a very short time a great improvement was seen in the town; people began leading Christian lives and gave up their former bad habits. 12. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, instructed by the Blessed Virgin as well as by his own experience. Saint Dominic preached the Rosary for the rest of his life. He preached it by his example as well as by his sermons.... One day he had to preach at Notre Dame in Paris, and it happened to be the feast of St. John the Evangelist. He was in a little chapel behind the high altar prayerfully preparing his sermon by saying the Rosary, as he always did, when our Lady appeared to him and said: "Dominic, even though what you have planned to say may be very good, I am bringing you a much better sermon." Saint Dominic took in his hands the book our Lady gave him, read the sermon carefully and, when he had understood it and meditated on it, he gave thanks to her. When the time came, he went up into the pulpit and, in spite of the feast day, made no mention of Saint John other than to say that he had been found worthy to be the guardian of the Queen of Heaven. The congregation was made up of theologians and other eminent people, who were used to hearing unusual and polished discourses; but Saint Dominic told them that it was not his desire to give them a learned discourse, wise in the eyes of the world, but that he would speak in the simplicity of the Holy Spirit and with his forcefulness. So he began preaching the Rosary and explained the Hail Mary word by word as he would to a group of children, and used the very simple illustrations which were in the book given him by our Lady. 14. Carthagena, the great scholar, quoting Blessed Alan de la Roche in De Dignitate Psalterii, describes how this took place. "Blessed Alan writes that one day Father Dominic said to him in a vision, 'My son, it is good to preach; but there is always a danger of looking for praise rather than the salvation of souls. Listen care-fully to what happened to me in Paris, so that you may be on your guard against this kind of mistake. I was to preach in the great church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and I was particularly anxious to give a fine sermon, not out of pride, but because of the high intellectual stature of the congregation. "An hour before the time I had to preach, I was dutifully saying my Rosary - as I always did before giving a sermon - when I fell into ecstasy. I saw my beloved friend, the Mother of God, coming towards me with a book in her hand. "Dominic," she said, "your sermon for today may be very good indeed, but no matter how good it is, I have brought you one that is very much better." "'Of course I was overjoyed, and I took the book and read every word of it. Just as our Lady had said, I found exactly the right things to say in my sermon, so I thanked her with all my heart. "'When it was time to begin, I saw that the University of Paris had turned out in full force, as well as a large number of noblemen. They had all seen and heard of the great things that the good Lord had been doing through me. '"I went up into the pulpit. It was the feast of Saint John the Evangelist but all I said about him was that he had been found worthy to be the guardian of the Queen of Heaven. Then I addressed the congregation: '"My Lords and illustrious doctors of the University, you are accustomed to hearing learned sermons suited to your refined tastes. Now I do not want to speak to you in the scholarly language of human wisdom but, on the contrary, to show you the Spirit of Cod and his greatness.'" Here ends the quotation from Blessed Alan, after which Carthagena goes on to say in his own words, "Then Saint Dominic explained the Angelic Salutation to them, using simple comparisons and examples from everyday life." 15. Blessed Alan, according to Carthagena, mentioned several other occasions when our Lord and our Lady appeared to Saint Dominic to urge him and inspire him to preach the Rosary more and more in order to wipe out sin and convert sinners and heretics. In another passage Carthagena says, "Blessed Alan said our Lady revealed to him that, after she had appeared to Saint Dominic, her blessed Son appeared to him and said, 'Dominic, I rejoice to see that you are not relying on your own wisdom and that, rather than seek the empty praise of men, you are working with great humility for the salvation of souls. '"But many priests want to preach thunderously against the worst kinds of sin at the very outset, failing to realize that before a sick person is given bitter medicine, he needs to be prepared by being put into the right frame of mind to really benefit by it. '"That is why, before doing anything else, priests should try to kindle a love of prayer in people's hearts and especially a love of my Angelic Psalter. If only they would all start saying it and would really persevere, God in his mercy could hardly refuse to give them his grace. So I want you to preach my Rosary.'" 16. In another place Blessed Alan says, "All priests say a Hail Mary with the faithful before preaching, to ask for God's grace. They do this because of a revelation that Saint Dominic had from our Lady. 'My son,' she said one day, 'do not be surprised that your sermons fail to bear the results you had hoped for. You are trying to cultivate a piece of ground which has not had any rain. Now when God planned to renew the face of the earth, he started by sending down rain from heaven - and this was the Angelic Salutation. In this way God reformed the world. '"So when you give a sermon, urge people to say my Rosary, and in this way your words will bear much fruit for souls.' "Saint Dominic lost no time in obeying, and from then on he exerted great influence by his sermons." (This last quotation is from "The Book of Miracles of the Holy Rosary," written in Italian, also found in Justin's works. Sermon 143.) 19. Later on, when these trials were over, thanks to the mercy of God, our Lady told Blessed Alan to revive the former Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. Blessed Alan was one of the Dominican Fathers at the monastery at Dinan, in Brittany. He was an eminent theologian and a famous preacher. Our Lady chose him because, since the Confraternity had originally been started in that province, it was fitting that a Dominican from the same province should have the honour of re-establishing it. Blessed Alan began this great work [the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary] in 1460, after a special warning from our Lord. This is how he received that urgent message, as he himself tells it: One day when he was offering Mass, our Lord, who wished to spur him on to preach the holy Rosary, spoke to him in the Sacred Host. "How can you crucify me again so soon?" Jesus said. "What did you say. Lord?" asked Blessed Alan, horrified. "You crucified me once before by your sins," answered Jesus, "and I would willingly be crucified again rather than have my Father offended by the sins you used to commit. You are crucifying me again now because you have all the learning and understanding that you need to preach my Mother's Rosary, and you are not doing it. If you only did that, you could teach many souls the right path and lead them away from sin. But you are not doing it, and so you yourself are guilty of the sins that they commit." This terrible reproach made Blessed Alan solemnly resolve to preach the Rosary unceasingly. 20. Our Lady also said to him one day to inspire him to preach the Rosary more and more, "You were a great sinner in your youth, but I obtained the grace of your conversion from my Son. Had such a thing been possible, I would have liked to have gone through all kinds of suffering to save you, because converted sinners are a glory to me. And I would have done that also to make you worthy of preaching my Rosary far and wide." Saint Dominic appeared to Blessed Alan as well and told him of the great results of his ministry: he had preached the Rosary unceasingly, his sermons had borne great fruit and many people had been converted during his missions. He said to Blessed Alan, "See what wonderful results I have had through preaching the Rosary. You and all who love our Lady ought to do the same so that, by means of this holy practice of the Rosary, you may draw all people to the real science of the virtues." 25. The chronicles of St. Francis tell of a young friar who had the praiseworthy habit of saying [the Rosary] of our Lady every day before dinner. One day, for some reason or other, he did not manage to say it. The refectory bell had already been rung when he asked the Superior to allow him to say it before coming to the table, and, having obtained permission, he withdrew to his cell to pray. After he had been gone a long time, the Superior sent another friar to fetch him, and he found him in his room bathed in a heavenly light in the presence of our Lady and two angels. Beautiful roses kept issuing from his mouth at each Hail Mary, and the two angels were taking them one by one and placing them on our Lady's head, while she smilingly accepted them. Finally, two other friars who had been sent to find out what had happened to the first two saw the same scene, and our Lady did not leave until the whole Rosary had been said. 28. Blessed Thomas of St. John was well known for his sermons on the holy Rosary, and the devil, jealous of his success, tortured him so much that he fell ill and was sick for such a long time that the doctors gave him up. One night, when he really thought he was dying, the devil appeared to him in the most terrible form imaginable. There was a picture of our Lady near his bed; he looked at it and cried with all his heart and soul and strength, "Help me, save me, my dearest Mother." No sooner had he said this than the picture seemed to come alive and our Lady put out her hand, took him by the arm and said, "Do not be afraid, Thomas my son, here I am and I am going to save you; get up now and go on preaching my Rosary as you used to do. I promise to shield you from your enemies." When our Lady said this, the devil fled and Blessed Thomas got up, finding himself in perfect health. He then thanked our Lady with tears of joy. He resumed his Rosary apostolate, and his sermons were wonderfully successful. 29. Our Lady not only blesses those who preach her Rosary but she highly rewards all those who, by their example, get others to say it. Alphonsus, King of Leon and Calicia, very much wanted all his servants to honour the Blessed Virgin by saying the Rosary, so he used to hang a large rosary on his belt, though he never said it himself. Nevertheless, his wearing it encouraged his courtiers to say the Rosary devoutly. One day the King fell seriously ill and when he was given up for dead he found himself, in spirit, before the judgment-seat of our Lord. Many devils were there accusing him of all the sins he had committed, and our Lord was about to condemn him when our Lady came forward to speak in his favour. She called for a pair of scales and had his sins placed in one of the balances, while she put the large rosary which he had always worn on the other scale, together with all the rosaries that had been said through his example. It was found that the Rosaries weighed more than his sins. Looking at him with great kindness, our Lady said, "As a reward for the little service you did for me in wearing my rosary, I have obtained a great grace for you from my Son. Your life will be spared for a few more years. See that you spend those years wisely, and do penance." When the King regained consciousness he cried out, "Blessed be the Rosary of the most holy Virgin Mary, by which I have been de-livered from eternal damnation." After he had recovered his health, he spent the rest of his life in spreading devotion to the Rosary, and said it faithfully every day. 31. While St. Dominic was preaching the Rosary in Carcassone, a heretic made fun of his miracles and the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, and this prevented other heretics from being converted. As a punishment God allowed fifteen thousand devils to enter the man's body. His parents took him to Father Dominic to be delivered from the evil spirits. He started to pray and he begged everyone who was there to say the Rosary out loud with him, and at each Hail Mary our Lady drove a hundred devils out of the man, and they came out in the form of red-hot coals. After he had been delivered, he abjured his former errors, was converted and joined the Rosary Confraternity. Several of his associates did the same, having been greatly moved by his punishment and by the power of the Rosary. 32. The learned Franciscan, Carthagena, as well as several other authors, says that an extraordinary event took place in 1482. The venerable Fr. James Sprenger and the religious of his order were zealously working to re-establish devotion to the Rosary and its Confraternity in the city of Cologne. Unfortunately, two priests who were famous for their preaching ability were jealous of the great influence they were exerting through preaching the Rosary. These two Fathers spoke against this devotion whenever they had a chance, and as they were very eloquent and had a great reputation, they persuaded many people not to join the Confraternity. One of them, the better to achieve his wicked end, wrote a special sermon against the Rosary and planned to give it the following Sunday. But when the time came for the sermon he did not appear and, after a certain amount of waiting, someone went to fetch him. He was found to be dead, and he had evidently died without anyone to help him. After persuading himself that this death was due to natural causes, the other priest decided to carry out his friend's plan and give a similar sermon on another day, hoping to put an end to the Confraternity of the Rosary. However, when the day came for him to preach and it was time to give the sermon, God punished him by striking him down with paralysis which deprived him of the use of his limbs and of his power of speech. At last he admitted his fault and that of his friend and in his heart he silently besought our Lady to help him. He promised that if only she would cure him, he would preach the Rosary with as much zeal as that with which he had formerly fought against it. For this end he implored her to restore his health and his speech, which she did, and finding himself instantaneously cured he rose up like another Saul, a persecutor turned defender of the holy Rosary. He publicly acknowledged his former error and ever afterwards preached the wonders of the Rosary with great zeal and eloquence. 48. One day, when St. Mechtilde was praying and was trying to think of some way in which she could express her love of the Blessed Virgin better than before, she fell into ecstasy. Our Lady appeared to her with the Angelic Salutation written in letters of gold upon her breast and said to her, "My daughter, I want you to know that no one can please me more than by saying the greeting which the most adorable Trinity presented to me and by which I was raised to the dignity of the Mother of God. "By the word Ave, which is the name of Eve, Eva, I learned that God in his infinite power had preserved me from all sin and its attendant misery which the first woman had been subject to. "The name Mary, which means 'lady of light,' shows that God has filled me with wisdom and light, like a shining star, to light up heaven and earth. "The words, full of grace, remind me that the Holy Spirit has showered so many graces upon me that I am able to give these graces in abundance to those who ask for them through my mediation. "When people say. The Lord is with thee, they renew the indescribable joy that was mine when the eternal Word became incarnate in my womb. "When you say to me. Blessed art thou among women, I praise the mercy of God who has raised me to this exalted degree of happiness. "And at the words. Blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, the whole of heaven rejoices with me to see my Son Jesus adored and glorified for having saved mankind." Seventeenth Rose 49. Blessed Alan de la Roche, who was so deeply devoted to the Blessed Virgin, had many revelations from her, and we know that he confirmed the truth of these revelations by a solemn oath. Three of them stand out with special emphasis: the first, that if people fail to say the Hail Mary, which has saved the world, out of carelessness, or because they are lukewarm, or because they hate it, this is an indication that they will probably be condemned to eternal punishment. The second truth is that those who love this divine salutation bear the very special stamp of predestination. The third is that those to whom God has given this favour of loving our Lady and of serving her out of love must take very great care to continue to love and serve her until the time when she shall have had them placed in heaven by her Son in the degree of glory which they have earned. 56. Blessed Alan also relates that a nun who had always had a great devotion to the Rosary appeared after her death to one of her sisters in religion and said to her, "If I were able to return in my body to have the chance of saying just a single Hail Mary, even without great fervour, I would gladly go through the sufferings that I had during my last illness all over again, in order to gain the merit of this prayer" It is to be noted that she had been bedridden and suffered agonizing pains for several years before she died. 79. Whatever you do, do not be like a certain pious but self-willed lady in Rome, so often referred to by speakers on the Rosary. She was so devout and fervent that she put to shame by her holy life even the strictest religious in the Church. Having decided to ask St. Dominic's advice about her spiritual life, she made her confession to him. For penance he gave her one Rosary to say and advised her to say it every day. She excused herself, saying that she had her regular exercises, that she made the Stations of Rome every day, that she wore sack- cloth as well as a hair-shirt, that she gave herself the discipline several times a week, that she often fasted and did other penances. Saint Dominic urged her over and over again to take his advice and say the Rosary, but she would not hear of it. She left the confessional, horrified at the methods of this new spiritual director who had tried so hard to persuade her to take up a devotion for which she had no taste. Later on, when she was at prayer she fell into ecstasy and had a vision of her soul appearing before the Supreme Judge. Saint Michael put all her penances and other prayers on one side of the scales and all her sins and imperfections on the other. The tray of her good works were greatly outweighed by that of her sins and imperfections. Filled with alarm, she cried for mercy, imploring the help of the Blessed Virgin, her gracious advocate, who took the one and only Rosary she had said for her penance and dropped it on the tray of her good works. This one Rosary was so heavy that it weighed more than all her sins as well as all her good works. Our Lady then reproved her for having refused to follow the counsel of her servant Dominic and for not saying the Rosary every day. As soon as she came to herself she rushed and threw herself at the feet of Saint Dominic and told him all that had happened, begged his forgiveness for her unbelief, and promised to say the Rosary faithfully every day. By this means she rose to Christian perfection and finally to the glory of everlasting life. 80. Few saints have reached the same heights of prayer as Saint Mary Magdalene, who was lifted up to heaven by angels each day, and who had the privilege of learning at the feet of Jesus and his holy Mother. Yet one day, when she asked God to show her a sure way of advancing in his love and arriving at the heights of perfection, he sent the archangel St. Michael to tell her, on his behalf, that there was no other way for her to reach perfection than to meditate on our Lord's passion. So he placed a cross in the front of her cave and told her to pray before it, contemplating the sorrowful mysteries which she had seen take place with her own eyes. 86. Blessed Alan relates that a man he knew had tried desperately all kinds of devotions to rid himself of the evil spirit which possessed him, but without success. Finally, he thought of wearing his rosary round his neck, which eased him considerably. He discovered that whenever he took it off the devil tormented him cruelly, so he resolved to wear it night and day. This drove the evil spirit away forever because he could not bear such a terrible chain. Blessed Alan also testifies that he delivered a great number of those who were possessed by putting a rosary round their necks. 87. Father Jean Amat, of the Order of St. Dominic, was giving a series of Lenten sermons in the Kingdom of Aragon one year, when a young girl was brought to him who was possessed by the devil. After he had exorcised her several times without success, he put his rosary round her neck. Hardly had he done so when the girl began to scream and cry out in a fearful way, shrieking, "Take it off, take it off; these beads are tormenting me." At last, the priest, filled with pity for the girl, took his rosary off her. The very next night, when Fr. Amat was in bed, the same devils who had possession of the girl came to him, foaming with rage and tried to seize him. But he had his rosary clasped in his hand and no efforts of theirs could wrench it from him. He beat them with it very well indeed and put them to flight, crying out, "Holy Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary, come to my help." The next day on his way to the church, he met the poor girl, still possessed; one of the devils within her started to jeer at him, saying, "Well, brother, if you had been without your rosary, we should have made short shrift of you." Then the good Father threw his rosary round the girl's neck without more ado, saying, "By the sacred names of Jesus and Mary his holy Mother, and by the power of the holy Rosary, I command you, evil spirits, to leave the body of this girl at once." They were immediately forced to obey him, and she was delivered from them. 88. Our Lady one day revealed to Blessed Alan de la Roche that, after the holy sacrifice of the Mass, which is the first and most living memorial of our Lord's passion, there was indeed no more excellent devotion or one of greater merit than that of the Rosary, which is hke a second memorial and representation of the life and passion of Jesus Christ. 89. Fr. Borland relates that in 1481 our Lady appeared to the Venerable Dominic, a Carthusian devoted to the holy Rosary, who lived at Treves, and said to him: "Whenever one of the faithful, in a state of grace, says the Rosary while meditating on the mysteries of the life and passion of Christ, he obtains full and entire remission of all his sins." She also said to Blessed Alan, "I want you to know that, although there are numerous indulgences already attached to the recitation of my Rosary, I shall add many more to every five decades for those who, free from serious sin, say them with devotion, on their knees. And whosoever shall persevere in the devotion of the holy Rosary, with its prayers and meditations, shall be rewarded for it; I shall obtain for him full remission of the penalty and the guilt of all his sins at the end of his life. "And let this not seem incredible to you; it is easy for me because I am the Mother of the King of heaven, and he calls me full of grace. And being filled with grace, I am able to dispense it freely to my dear children." 98. The saintly Blanche of Castille, Queen of France, was deeply grieved because twelve years after her marriage she was still childless. When St. Dominic went to see her he advised her to say the Rosary every day to ask God for the grace of motherhood, and she faithfully carried out his advice. In the year 1213 she gave birth to her eldest child, who was called Philip. But when the child died in infancy, the Queen sought our Lady's help more than ever, and had a large number of rosaries given out to all members of the court and to people in several towns in the Kingdom, asking them to pray to God for a blessing which this time would be complete. This was granted to her, for in 1215 St. Louis was born, the prince who was to become the glory of France and the model of Christian kings. 99. Alphonsus VIII, King of Aragon and Castille, had been leading a disorderly life and had been punished by God in several ways, and he was forced to take refuge in a town belonging to one of his allies. St. Dominic happened to be in this town on Christmas Day and he preached on the Rosary as he usually did, and spoke of the graces that we obtain through this devotion. He mentioned, among other things, that those who said the Rosary devoutly would overcome their enemies and regain all they had lost. The King listened attentively and sent for St. Dominic to ask whether what he had said about the Rosary was really true. The Saint assured him that nothing was more true, and that if only he would practice this devotion and join the Confraternity, he would see for himself The King resolved to say the Rosary every day and persevered for a year in doing so. The very next Christmas, our Lady appeared to him at the end of his Rosary and said, "Alphonsus, you have served me for a year by saying my Rosary devoutly every day, so I have come to reward you. I have obtained the forgiveness of your sins from my Son. Here is a rosary, which I present to you; wear it, and I promise you that none of your enemies will be able to harm you." Our Lady vanished, leaving the King overjoyed and greatly encouraged; he immediately went in search of the Queen and told her all about our Lady's gift and the promise that went with it. He touched her eyes with this rosary, for she had lost her sight, and she was cured. Shortly afterwards the King rallied some troops and with the help of his allies boldly attacked his enemies. He forced them to give back the territory they had taken from him and make reparation for his losses. They were completely routed, and he became so successful in war that soldiers came from all sides to fight under his standard, because it seemed that, whenever he went into battle, the victory was sure to be his. This is not surprising because he never went into battle without first saying his Rosary on his knees. He made certain that the whole of his court joined the Confraternity of the Rosary and he saw to it that all his officials and servants were devoted to it. The Queen also joined the Confraternity, and they both persevered in the service of Blessed Virgin and lived very holy lives. 100. St. Dominic had a cousin named Don Perez or Pedro, who was leading a highly immoral life. When he heard that his cousin was preaching on the wonders of the Rosary and learned that several people had been converted and had amended their lives by means of it, he said, "I had given up all hope of being saved but now I am beginning to take heart again. I really must hear this man of God." So one day he went to hear one of St. Dominic's sermons. When the latter caught sight of him, he struck out against sin more zealously than ever before, and from the depths of his heart he besought God to enlighten his cousin and let him see what a deplorable state his soul was in. At first, Don Perez was somewhat alarmed, but he still did not resolve to change his ways. He came once more to hear the Saint preach and his cousin, realizing that a heart as hardened as his could only be moved by something extraordinary, cried out with a loud voice, "Lord Jesus, grant that this whole congregation may see the state of the man who has just come into your house." Then everyone suddenly saw that Don Perez was completely surrounded by a band of devils in the form of hideous beasts, who were holding him in great iron chains. People fled in all directions in abject terror, and Don Perez himself was even more appalled when he saw how everyone shunned him. St. Dominic told them all to stand still and said to his cousin, "Unhappy man that you are, acknowledge the deplorable state you are in and throw yourself at our Lady's feet. Take this rosary, say it with devotion and with true sorrow for all your sins, and make a resolution to amend your life." Don Perez knelt down and said the Rosary; he then felt the desire to make his confession, which he did with heartfelt contrition. St. Dominic ordered him to say the Rosary every day; he promised to do this and he entered his own name in the register of the Confraternity. When he left the church his face was no longer horrible to behold but shining like that of an angel. Thereafter he persevered in devotion to the Rosary, led a well-ordered life and died a happy death. 101. When St. Dominic was preaching the Rosary near Carcassone, an Albigensian was brought to him who was possessed by the devil. The Saint exorcised him in the presence of a great crowd of people; it appears that over twelve thousand had come to hear him speak. The devils who were in possession of this wretched man were forced to answer St. Dominic's questions in spite of themselves. They said: 1 That there were fifteen thousand of them in the body of that poor man, because he had attacked the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary; 2 That by the Rosary which he preached, he put fear and horror into the depths of hell, and that he was the man they hated most throughout the world because of the souls he snatched from them by the devotion of the Rosary. 3 They revealed several other things. 102. St. Dominic put his rosary round the neck of the possessed man and asked them who, of all the saints in heaven, was the one they feared most, who should therefore be the most loved and revered by men. At this they let out such unearthly screams that most of the people fell to the ground, seized with fear. Then, using all their cunning so as not to answer, the devils wept and wailed in such a pitiful way that many of the people wept also, out of pure natural pity. The devils, speaking through the mouth of the Albigensian, pleaded in a heart-rending voice, "Dominic, Dominic, have pity on us, we promise you we will never harm you. "You have always had compassion for sinners and those in distress; have pity on us, for we are in grievous straits. We are suffering so much already, why do you delight in increasing our pains? Can't you be satisfied with the pains we now endure? Have mercy on us, have mercy on us! " 103. St. Dominic was not in the least moved by the pathetic words of those wretched spirits, and told them he would not let them alone until they had answered his question. Then they said they would whisper the answer in such a way that only St. Dominic would be able to hear. The latter firmly insisted upon their answering clearly and audibly. Then the devils kept quiet and would not say another word, completely disregarding St. Dominic's orders. So he knelt down and said this prayer to our Lady: "Oh, most glorious Virgin Mary, I implore you by the power of the holy Rosary command these enemies of the human race to answer my question." No sooner had he said this prayer than a glowing flame leaped out of the ears, nostrils and mouth of the possessed man. Everyone shook with fear, but the fire did not hurt anyone. Then the devils cried, "Dominic, we beseech you, by the passion of Jesus Christ and the merits of his holy Mother and of all the saints, let us leave the body of this man without speaking further; for the angels will answer your question whenever you wish. After all, are we not liars - so why should you want to believe us? Do not torment us any more, have pity onus." "Woe to you, wretched spirits, who do not deserve to be heard," St. Dominic said, and kneeling down he prayed to the Blessed Virgin: "O most worthy Mother of Wisdom, I am praying for the people assembled here, who have already learned how to say the Angelic Salutation properly. I beg you for the salvation of those here present, compel these adversaries of yours to proclaim the whole truth here and now before the people." St. Dominic had scarcely finished this prayer when he saw the Blessed Virgin near at hand surrounded by a multitude of angels. She struck the possessed man with a golden rod that she held and said, "Answer my servant Dominic at once." (It must be noted that the people neither saw nor heard our Lady, only St. Dominic.) 104. Then the devils started screaming: "Oh, you who are enemy, our downfall and our destruction, why have you come from heaven to torture us so grievously? O advocate of sinners, you who snatch them from the very jaws of hell, you who are a most sure path to heaven, must we, in spite of ourselves, tell the whole truth and confess before everyone who it is who is the cause of our shame and our ruin? Oh, woe to us, princes of darkness. "Then listen, you Christians. This Mother of Jesus is most powerful in saving her servants from falling into hell. She is like the sun which destroys the darkness of our wiles and subtlety. It is she who uncovers our hidden plots, breaks our snares, and makes our temptations useless and ineffective. "We have to say, however, reluctantly, that no soul who has really persevered in her service has ever been damned with us; one single sigh that she offers to the Blessed Trinity is worth far more than all the prayers, desires, and aspirations of all the saints. We fear her more than all the other saints in heaven together, and we have no success with her faithful servants. "Many Christians who call on her at the hour of death and who really ought to be damned according to our ordinary standards are saved by her intercession. And if that Marietta (it is thus in their fury they called her) did not counter our plans and our efforts, we should have overcome the Church and destroyed it long before this, and caused all the Orders in the Church to fall into error and infidelity. "Now that we are forced to speak, we must also tell you that nobody who perseveres in saying the Rosary will be damned, because she obtains for her servants the grace of true contrition for their sins by which they obtain pardon and mercy." Then St. Dominic had all the people say the Rosary very slowly and with great devotion, and a wonderful thing happened: at each Hail Mary which he and the people said, a large number of devils issued forth from the wretched man's body under the guise of red-hot coals. When the devils had all been expelled and the heretic completely delivered from them, our Lady, although invisible, gave her blessing to the assembled company, and they were filled with joy. A large number of heretics were converted because of this miracle and joined the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary. 105. It is almost impossible to do credit sufficiently to the victories that Count Simon de Montfort won against the Albigensians under the patronage of Our Lady of the Rosary. They are so famous that the world has never seen anything to match them. One day he defeated ten thousand heretics with a force of five hundred men; on another occasion he overcame three thousand with only thirty men; finally, with eight hundred horsemen and one thousand infantrymen he completely routed the army of the King of Aragon, which was a hundred thousand strong, and this with the loss on his side of only one horseman and eight soldiers. 106. Our Lady also protected Alan de I'Anvallay, a Breton knight, from great perils. He too was fighting for the faith against the Albigensians. One day, when he found himself surrounded by enemies on all sides, our Lady let fall a hundred and fifty rocks upon his enemies and he was delivered from their hands. Another day, when his ship had foundered and was about to sink, this good Mother caused a hundred and fifty small hills to appear miraculously above the water and by means of them they reached Brittany in safety. In thanksgiving to our Lady for the miracles she had worked on his behalf in answer to his daily Rosary, he built a monastery at Dinan for the religious of the new Order of St. Dominic and, having become a religious himself, he died a holy death at Orleans. 107. Othere, also a Breton soldier, from Vaucouleurs, often put whole companies of heretics or robbers to flight, wearing his rosary on his arm and on the hilt of his sword. Once when he had beaten his enemies, they admitted that they had seen his sword shining brightly, and another time had noticed a shield on his arm on which our Lord, our Lady and the saints were depicted. This shield made him invisible and gave him the strength to attack well. Another time he defeated twenty thousand heretics with only ten companies without losing a single man. This so impressed the general of the heretics' army that he sought out Othere, abjured his heresy and declared that he had seen him surrounded by flaming swords during the battle. 108. Blessed Alan relates that a certain Cardinal Pierre, whose titular church was that of St. Mary-bey ond- the- Tiber, was a great friend of St. Dominic's and had learned from him to have a great devotion to the holy Rosary. He grew to love it so much that he never ceased singing its praises and encouraging everyone he met to embrace it. Eventually he was sent as legate to the Holy Land to the Christians who were fighting against the Saracens. So successfully did he convince the Christian army of the power of the Rosary that they all started saying it and stormed heaven for help in a battle in which they knew they would be pitifully outnumbered. And in fact, their three thousand triumphed over an enemy of one hundred thousand. 109. In 1578, a woman of Antwerp had given herself to the devil and signed a contract with her own blood. Shortly afterwards she was stricken with remorse and had an intense desire to make amends for this terrible deed. So she sought out a kind and wise confessor to find out how she could be set free from the power of the devil. She found a wise and holy priest, who advised her to go to Fr. Henry, director of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, at the Dominican Friary, to be enroled there and to make her confession. Accordingly, she asked to see him but met, not Fr. Henry, but the devil disguised as a friar. He reproved her severely and said she could never hope to receive God's grace, and there was no way of revoking what she had signed. This grieved her greatly but she did not lose hope in God's mercy and sought out Fr. Henry once more, only to find the devil a second time, and to meet with a second rebuff She came back a third time and then at last, by divine providence, she found Fr. Henry in person, the priest whom she had been looking for, and he treated her with great kindness, urging her to throw herself on the mercy of God and to make a good confession. He then received her into the Confraternity and told her to say the Rosary frequently. One day, while Fr. Henry was celebrating Mass for her, our Lady forced the devil to give her back the contract she had signed. In this way she was delivered from the devil by the authority of Mary and by devotion to the holy Rosary. 1 10. A nobleman who had several daughters placed one of them in a lax monastery where the nuns were concerned only with vanity and pleasures. Their confessor, on the other hand, was a zealous priest with a great devotion to the holy Rosary. Wishing to guide this nun into a better way of life, he ordered her to say the Rosary every day in honour of the Blessed Virgin, while meditating on the life, passion and glory of Jesus Christ. She joyously undertook this devotion, and little by little she grew to have a repugnance for the wayward habits of her sisters in religion. She developed a love of silence and prayer, in spite of the fact that the others despised and ridiculed her and called her a fanatic. It was at this time that a holy priest, who was making the visitation of the convent, had a strange vision during his meditation: he saw a nun in her room, rapt in prayer, kneeling in front of a Lady of great beauty who was surrounded by angels. The latter had flaming spears with which they repelled a crowd of devils who wanted to come in. These evil spirits then fled to the other nuns' rooms under the guise of vile animals. By this vision the priest became aware of the lamentable state of that monastery and was so upset that he thought he might die of grief He sent for the young religious and exhorted her to persevere. As he pondered on the value of the Rosary, he decided to try and reform the Sisters by means of it. He bought a supply of beautiful rosaries and gave one to each nun, imploring them to say it every day and promising them that, if they would only say it faithfully, he would not try to force them to alter their lives. Wonderful and strange though it may seem, the nuns willingly accepted the rosaries and promised to say the prayer on that condition. Little by little they began to give up their empty and worldly pursuits, letting silence and recollection come into their lives. In less than a year they all asked that the monastery be reformed. The Rosary worked more changes in their hearts than the priest could have done by exhorting and commanding them. 1 13. 1, who write this, have learnt from my own experience that the Rosary has the power to convert even the most hardened hearts. I have known people who have gone to missions and heard sermons on the most terrifying subjects without being in the least moved; and yet, after they had, on my advice, started to say the Rosary every day. they eventually became converted and gave themselves completely to God. When I have gone back to parishes where I had given missions, I have seen tremendous differences between them; in those parishes where the people had given up the Rosary, they had generally fallen back into their sinful ways, whereas in places where the Rosary was said faithfully I found the people were persevering in the grace of God and advancing in virtue day by day. 128. Blessed Alan de la Roche and other writers, including Robert BcUarmine, tell the story of how a good priest advised three of his penitents, who happened to be sisters, to say the Rosary every day without fail for a whole year. This was so that they might make a beautiful robe of glory for the Blessed Virgin out of their Rosaries. This was a secret that the priest had received from heaven. So the three sisters said the Rosary faithfully for a year, and on the feast of the Purification our Lady appeared to them at night when they had retired. St. Catherine and St. Agnes were with her, and she was wearing a dress brilliant with light, on which was written in letters of gold the words "Hail, Mary, full of grace." Our Lady approached the eldest sister and said, "I greet you, my daughter, who have greeted me so often and so well. I want to thank you for the beautiful robes you have made me." The two virgin saints who accompanied our Lady also thanked her and all three disappeared. An hour later, our Lady, with the same two companions, entered the room again, but this time she was wearing a green dress which had no gold lettering and did not shine. She went to the second sister and thanked her for the robe she had made by saying her Rosary. But since this sister had seen our Lady appear to the eldest sister much more magnificently dressed, she asked the reason why. Our Lady answered, "Your sister made me more beautiful clothes because she has been saying the Rosary better than you." About an hour after this, she appeared to the youngest of the sisters wearing tattered and dirty rags. "My daughter," she said, "I want to thank you for these clothes you have made me." The young girl, feeling ashamed, cried out, "O my lady, how could I have dressed you so badly! I beg you to forgive me. Please grant me a little more time to make you a beautiful robe by saying my Rosary better." Our Lady and the two saints vanished, leaving the girl heartbroken. She told her confessor everything that had happened and he urged them to say the Rosary for another year and to say it with more devotion than ever. At the end of this second year, on the same day of the Purification, our Lady, clothed in a magnificent robe, and again attended by St. Catherine and St. Agnes, wearing crowns, appeared to them in the evening. She said to them, "I have come to tell you that you have earned heaven at last, and you will all have the great joy of going there tomorrow." The three of them cried, "Our hearts are ready, dearest Queen, our hearts are ready." Then the vision faded. That same night they became ill and sent for their confessor, and received the last sacraments, after having thanked him for the holy practice he had taught them. After Compline, our Lady appeared with a large company of virgins and had the three sisters clothed in white robes. While angels were singing, "Come, spouses of Jesus Christ, receive the crowns which have been prepared for you for all eternity," they departed from this life. Some important truths can be learned from this story: 1) How important it is to have a good director who will counsel holy practices, especially that of the holy Rosary; 2) How important it is to say the Rosary with attention and devotion; 3) How kind and merciful is the Blessed Virgin to those who are sorry for the past and are firmly resolved to do better; 4) How generous she is in rewarding us in life, at death, and in eternity for the little services that we render her with fidelity. 132. Public prayer is more powerful than private prayer to appease the anger of God and call down his mercy, and the Church, guided by the Holy Spirit, has always advocated it in times of disasters and general distress. In his [document] on the Rosary, Pope Gregory XIII declares that we must believe, on pious faith, that the public prayers and processions of the members of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary were largely responsible for the great victory over the Turkish navy at Lepanto, which God granted to the Christians on the first Sunday of October 1571. 153. Flammin and a great number of other writers tell the story of a young girl of noble station named Alexandra, who had been miraculously converted and enroled by St. Dominic in the Confraternity of the Rosary. After her death, she appeared to him and said she had been condemned to seven hundred years in purgatory because of her own sins and those she had caused others to commit by her worldly ways. So she implored him to ease her pains by his prayers and to ask the Confraternity members to pray for the same end. St. Dominic did as she had asked. Two weeks later she appeared to him, more radiant than the sun, having been quickly delivered from purgatory by the prayers of the Confraternity members. She also told St. Dominic that she had come on behalf of the souls in purgatory to beg him to go on preaching the Rosary and to ask their relations to offer their Rosaries for them, and that they would reward them abundantly when they entered into glory.

Scott O'Grady, the fighter pilot of the NATO forces whose plane was shot down in Bosnia in June 1995, was rescued after a successful operation in which more than 40 planes and helicopters took part, 100 soldiers and some of the best military strategists of NATO.
After his return he wrote a book about the events and the horrors he lived through after the Bosnian Serbs shot down his F-16. Describing the sufferings, hunger, thirst, cold and fear that he lived through in the course of the several days of hiding and waiting for help in the forests of Bosnia .He also reveals an interesting detail which has the most significance in the entire rescue operation.
On the third day of my hiding out, thinking about how survival is first of all a spiritual test, I experienced something amazing and unrepeatable. All of a sudden, in the stillness of my hiding place, I remembered the accounts of my mother's friend who, before the war broke out in Bosnia, had visited Medjugorje, a little place south in the country, where there is testimony about Our Lady's apparition. That afternoon I turned to Our Lady in prayer. Immediately I felt her presence. It became more and more clear and palpable right up to the moment that I saw her. It is hard to describe in words. The vision came through the strength of my feelings, and that feeling was indescribably warm, full of bliss and peace.
Someone existed that prayed and kept watch over my return home. That vision was the most important thing that happened to me in Bosnia. It gave me the courage to hold out in the most difficult moments. Through his book the American pilot made public his own declaration given immediately after the very rescue operation: Our Lady of Medjugorje saved me!

Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa
Living miracle of the Eucharist, Fourth Seer of Fatima
Died aged 51 after a life of suffering and reparation
The life of Blessed Alexandrina Maria da Costa
is portrayed with original film footage and historical images and photographs in a new DVD OUT NOW from Mary's Dowry Productions to promote her important life and message. Based upon the book by Kevin Rowles Alexandrina Maria da Costa was born in Balasar, Portugal in 1904. Her mother, Maria Ana da Costa, was a devout woman and Alexandrina had one sister named Deolinda. Her father left when the girls were young and so Maria Ana da Costa raised them devoutly. After working for a short time in the fields of Balasar, Alexandrina eventually took up sewing and became a student of Deolinda's.

Blessed Alexandrina and Deolinda were very close
Deolinda was a seamstress and came to care totally for her sister, Blessed Alexandrina in the great mission that she was called to. An event occured in 1918 that was to utterly change Blessed Alexandrina's life. An attempt was made upon her purity and Blessed Alexandrina's courage had devestating consequences. Alexandrina was 14 years old and was at home having sewing lessons from Deolinda with a friend Rosalina when they heard pounding at the door. Alexandrina looked out of the window and saw that her former employer was at the door with two other men and the expressions on their faces told her that they had come to assult the women. The women quickly tried to barracade the trap door that led into the sewing room as the men broke into the house, but they had soon forced open the door and levered themselves in. The two other men pursued Deolinda and Rosalina and Alexandrina's former employer cornered her. She lashed out at him with her rosary and screamed "Jesus, help me!" Alexandrina was prepared to die to protect her purity and so turned to the window. The only way of escape was to jump and this she did, falling 12 feet to the hard ground below. The pain was devestating. Not content with having escaped with her own virtue intact, Alexandrina took up some wood and returned to the house to defend the virtue of her sister and friend. Like David confronting Goliath, Alexandrina startled the men with her counter-attack. The men fled and Deolinda and Rosalina were unharmed, but Alexandrina's life was to change forever. As a result from the jump from the window, Alexandrina's spine was irreversibly damaged. The doctor confirmed that her condition was deteriorating and that it would evenually lead to complete paralysis. In 1924 at the age of 18, complete paralysis set in and Blessed Alexandrina became bedridden. Deolinda looked after Alexandrina and their mother worked for all three of them. Long months of pain followed and Alexandrina began to see that she would be confined to her tiny upstairs room for the rest of her life. She had already practiced detachment but had moments of discouragement until she quickly conformed herself to the Will of God and regarded her bed as her "beloved cross". The family began to storm Heaven for a cure and gathered around her bed each evening to pray the rosary and night prayers, but Blessed Alexandrina's condition grew steadily worse until the slightest movement caused her agonising pain. She hovered on the brink of death and on many occasions the Last Sacraments were administered to her. But Jesus had a special mission for Alexandrina and she was not yet to die. The parish priest lent her a statue of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the month of May and when it was returned, Blessed Alexandrina scraped together all of her money to buy one of her own. She began to have a growing love of prayer and longed for a life of union with Jesus, seeing that this union could only be realised by bearing her sufferings for love of Him. She began to understand that her vocation was to suffer and without quite knowing how she offered herself to God as a victim soul for the conversion of sinners. In 1928, Alexandrina's diocese arranged a pilgrimage to Fatima and Alexandrina dearly wanted to go for there were numerous reports of cures at the shrine. The doctor and parish priest forbade it however, for it was a 200 mile journey and the slightest movement caused her indescribable suffering. Alexandrina was deeply disappointed and offered her suffering and isolation to God, redoubling her efforts to pray to be cured and promising to become a missionary if she was. Although she was never healed, Alexandrina became a great missionary for Fatima without ever leaving her bed. She exhorted all to live the Fatima message, kept a picture of Jacinta Marto by her bed and a statue of Our Lady of Fatima in her room. Gradually, Alexandrina's desire for a cure transformed into thoughts of only loving God and suffering for Him. She made a profound and important realisation that Jesus was a prisoner also, in the Tabernacle. Alexandrina began to visit Him in spirit and remain constantly before Him in union with Our Lady. She offered Him constant love and reparation and implored Him to convert sinners. She was given insights into the terrible consequences of the many grave sins occuring throughout the world at that time and begged Jesus to accept her as a Victim soul for the conversion of sinners, agreeing to suffer as much as she could endure if only sinners could be saved. Jesus heard her prayer for her pain increased greatly. In a desperate state and racked with agony and fever Alexandrina continuously made the offering of her suffering using the prayer of Our Lady of Fatima:
"O Jesus, this is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary". Her severe pain continued with little relief and she was seen quivering and groaning in agony. Finally in 1931 she entered for the first time into a state of ecstasy. She heard the voice of Our Lord overflowing with love and tenderness inviting her to "love, suffer and make reparation". Our Lord gave Alexandrina a devout Jesuit priest named Fr. Pinho as her spiritual director, and soon, her great desire to have Mass celebrated in her room was realised. Soon after that first Mass, Jesus appeared to Alexandrina in a profound vision that remained present with her for many years. Jesus drew near the edge of her bed as if He had just been taken down from the Cross, deep open wounds in His Hands, Feet and Side, the blood streaming from these Wounds to flood the floor. He offered her the Wounds for her to kiss and enraptured she threw herself in His arms, remaining there for some moments until He disappeared. Alexandrina's mission to suffer for the conversion and salvation of sinners was clearly beginning to bear fruit because the enemy of humanity, Satan, began to intervene. He launched a series of attacks upon her which were to last for ten years, which even included physical attacks. Alexandrina wrote that she would see a great darkness come into her room and a shadow jump towards her. "I come on behalf of your Christ to carry you to Hell, bed and all!" It said. She kissed the Crucifix and used Holy Water and Satan would flee enraged. "Every now and then I see a rapid light." Alexandrina wrote. Satan hounded her and tormented her relentlessly, often throwing her from the bed, sneering at her and raging and throwing her into corners of the room. Terrified witnessed saw Alexandrina's bed enveloped in black, billowing smoke from which issued a terrible stench. Satan deplored the use of the rosary, the Brown Scapular, medals and Holy Water but in all these trial Alexandrina remained resigned to the Will of God, her one consolation being that her visitors were given proof of the existence of Hell. Alexandrina prayed and offered many sufferings that the bishops would ask the Holy Father for the consecration of the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
In 1938 Jesus said to her:
"As a sign that it is My Will that the world be consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of My Mother, I will make you suffer My Passion until the holy Father has decided to implement this consecration." Blessed Alexandrina was to suffer the Passion over 180 times, passing through the whole of Jesus' Passion from Gethsemane to Calvary. All who witnessed these Passion ecstacies were astounded as Alexandrina regained the use of her paralysed limbs and moved about the room as the Passion of Christ was re-enacted in her. Blessed Alexandrina suffered all that Christ suffered in His Sacred Passion including the scourging (above), the Carrying of the Cross (below), the Crucifixion and Death. If was found impossible to lift her when undergoing the Carrying of the Cross. Once completed, she would face Jesus in the Tabernacle and speak to Christ Crucified. Her suffering between each Passion ecstacy was severe and continuous, but she received many thousands of visitors in her little room and exhorted them to live the message of Fatima.
"O sinners," she would weep, "I am enduring a life of terrible suffering on your behalf. Convert yourselves! Sin no more! Sin no more!" On Good Friday of 1942, Jesus told Alexandrina that the Holy Father had decided to consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. But Alexandrina's mission of suffering was not yet over - she was to begin a thirteen year fast in which she miraculously lived on the Holy Eucharist alone. Our Lord said to her after, "You are living by the Eucharist alone because I want to prove to the world the power of the Eucharist and the power of My Life in souls". Because she was unable to write, Blessed Alexandrina dictated her thoughts, writings and letters to Deolinda, and when Deolinda was unable to, Deolinda was assisted by a local schoolteacher and friend known as Saozinha. In 1955, Blessed Alexandrina's health rapidly deteriorated and she lay for several months in agonizing pain - worse than anything she had suffered before. On the morning of October 13th, the anniversary of Our Lady's last apparition at Fatima and the day that the Miracle of the Sun took place, Alexandrina received a vision of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who said to her: "I am about to take you." Sister Lucia of Fatima wrote to Blessed Alexandrina's last spiritual director:
"May the Lord grant that Alexandrina's cause of Beatification advance as quickly as possible, for the glory of God. It is necessary that such a materialistic world sees that there are still souls capable of being raised into the realms of the supernatural."

CARRY YOUR ROSARY EVERYDAY
When you carry a Rosary, Satan has a headache.
When you use it, he collapses.
When he sees you praying it, he faints.
Let us pray the rosary every time, so that he'll keep fainting.
one day, he'll have a stroke and never be able to work.
Did you also know that when you are about to forward this message, Satan will try to discourage you?
Forward it anyway and help hasten the triumph of Mama Mary!

So, on Good Friday, let us all pray a Rosary for peace in the world and the return of moral values into our communities. If possible, please pray your Rosary between Noon and 3:00 pm.
Also, please e-mail this message to every Catholic on your address list, and ask them to pass it along to every Catholic on their lists. Let's unite in praying one of the most powerful prayers in existence, for these intentions, on one of the holiest days in our Church

Medjugorje messages containing word Rosary - In Medjugorje, every day the Rosary prayer is being prayed
Our Lady desires that we pray the Rosary with living faith, daily, for the salvation of souls. In Medjugorje the parish has taken up this call by praying two mysteries of the Rosary before evening saint Mass and praying a third mystery after Mass each day! Incredible!!
"Without contemplation of mysteries Rosary is lifeless"
Q. I pray the Rosary every day, but I don't know if I pray with my mouth or heart, for at times my prayer is arid.
A. You need to change your prayer, for when you truly pray, as Our Lady wishes, your life changes. The Rosary is a typically oral prayer unless you work at it. Paul VI, in his encyclical "Marialis Cultus" (no. 47) said: "Unless it is a contemplative prayer it is a lifeless corpse". Your Rosary is worth little if it is not contemplative prayer. So when you recite the Rosary take time over the mystery and see if there is something practical you can do. At each mystery ask Our Lady for light. Try reading the mystery as it is told in the Gospel, because just simply announcing it does little for you. Take a little longer to meditate the Rosary, then fix your attention on a word of the "Hail Mary." For example, when you say "pray for us sinners now," stop at the word "now" and you will understand that perhaps in that moment you need to forgive, or line up your will with that of the Father's, or correct something in your behaviour. So fix your attention on one of the words from the prayer and you will see how the Rosary will convert you. Rather than say many Rosaries, say a briefer one, but the way Our Lady wishes, so as to communicate with her. It might happen that half way through you realize you have yet to communicate with her, that your thoughts are miles away; so wake up and say, "I want to communicate with Our Lady," and fix your attention on a few words. This is the real Rosary.
When the Madonna came, for me there was nothing else around: I was immersed in a blue sky and I saw her in her usual gray dress, not sad but normal “. Our Lady said: Dear children, never before have I needed your prayers. Never like now, I ask you to hold the Rosary in your hand. Hold it tight. I pray the Father very much for you. I thank you because you came so numerous and you answered my call.
